Clip-Lock vs Screw-Top Containers for Indian Lunch Packing
Choose a clip-lock or screw-top lunch container by the portion it holds, the way you open it and its actual transport instructions. For a small side dish, the Borosil 320 ml Klip n Store and Sistema 150 ml Yogurt TO GO illustrate two different arrangements. Neither the number of clips nor a threaded lid alone proves that a container will keep liquid inside a moving bag.

Which arrangement suits your lunch?
Consider the Borosil example when you want one square side-dish container and its footprint fits beside your main lunch box. Consider the Sistema arrangement when two separately packed small portions would be more useful. Two 150 ml pots do not offer one continuous 300 ml space: each food portion has to fit its own pot.
For roti, compare the bread's folded dimensions with the usable opening rather than choosing from the litre label. For sabzi, decide whether the portion should sit in a shallow layer or a narrower pot. For dal or another liquid, transport instructions take priority over those shape preferences. This comparison does not establish a spill-tested winner.
Borosil: compare the complete closed footprint
The maker identifies BGFGBKNS0105 as the 320 ml variant with a glass body and plastic lid. The product photograph shows the lid's fold-over tabs. The listed dimensions help screen bag space, but confirm whether they include every projecting part when closed. A container that fits the bottom of a bag may still be awkward to lift through its opening.
Borosil describes this container as airtight and leakproof. That is a manufacturer claim, not a result of our own transport test. Its care instructions also distinguish the glass body from the plastic lid: the lid is excluded from microwave and conventional-oven use. A buyer who reheats lunch needs somewhere clean to set that lid aside.
Sistema: the liquid warning matters more than the lid name
Sistema identifies style 21466ZS as a two-pack with 150 ml per pot and domed screw-top lids. Its description uses seal-tight wording, while the care section explicitly warns that the product is not leakproof. Do not interpret the closure description as approval for loose transport of liquid dal, thin chutney or drinks.
The page permits microwave reheating of precooked food without the lid and specifies top-rack dishwasher cleaning. Those permissions are subject to the detailed food and heating restrictions on that page. The international listing does not establish an available India-market offer or local replacement lids.
The published 74 × 179 × 74 mm dimensions do not clearly distinguish a single pot from the complete pack. They should not be used as a verified individual-pot height for a tightly fitted lunch bag.
Compare opening and washing as well as capacity
A clip-style lid requires room to operate its tabs; a screw-top lid requires room to grip and rotate it. Try the relevant movement with an empty demonstration unit if one is available. The closure category cannot establish how much force a particular person will need, especially with wet hands.
When comparing cleaning, look for places that food can collect around the rim and closure. Follow the exact instructions for any removable seal rather than pulling apart components because a different container permits it. A replacement lid also needs an exact model match; a similar shape is insufficient.
Count the parts that return home after lunch. Two pots bring two lids to wash and store, while one dish may leave different foods sharing a compartment. Choose the arrangement that matches the meal you actually pack, rather than buying a larger set solely because it contains more pieces.
Before choosing a pack
Check the selected capacity, number of containers and matching lid in the offer. Allow clearance around the closed container inside your bag, and keep enough room to remove it without pulling on the closure. These examples differ in material, capacity and shape as well as lid type, so they cannot isolate which closure performs better. Prioritise the documented fit for your meal and keep unresolved liquid-transport claims out of the decision.
