Plate Stands for Indian Kitchen Cabinets: Size and Loaded Fit Checks

This comparison covers two Plantex designs and two IKEA RINNIG variants. One Plantex page has conflicting specification fields, and the RINNIG Amazon bundle remains unresolved. We have not tested plate fit, loading, stability, scratching, corrosion resistance or drying performance.

Choose by your storage task

For dry plates inside a cabinet, begin with the clear shelf space and the opening through which you will insert the rack. Record hinge intrusions, shelf supports and anything else that reduces usable space. A cabinet's nominal width does not establish its clear internal width.

For plates inside a pull-out basket, include the movement of the basket and its closing path. Check the basket maker's permitted arrangement and load limits where supplied. Do not assume a free-standing rack is fixed in place or approved for every moving drawer.

If your main task is draining freshly washed dishes, compare the dish-drying rack guide before treating a cabinet organiser as a complete drainage system. A product described as suitable for drying and storage does not establish where the water goes inside your cabinet.

Narrow your shortlist by footprint

These are documentation examples, not a market-wide ranking. We have not established that either accepts your plate set or cabinet. Defer the six-inch option until its conflicting dimensions and variant can be reconciled. Start with RINNIG for its smaller published footprint, or investigate the eight-inch Plantex layout where the larger base fits. Neither choice establishes the loaded fit of your plates.

Plantex eight-inch stand: clearer footprint, unknown plate limits

The official eight-inch product page describes a 7 mm ABS plastic base and 4 mm stainless steel wires with a nickel chrome finish. It gives overall dimensions as 47D × 16W × 16H cm. Keep those axis labels with the numbers rather than silently relabelling the longest side.

The title describes ten slots, while the description says eleven slots holding up to ten plates or lids. We have retained that distinction rather than independently confirming a slot count. A maker's capacity statement also does not prove that ten of your deep-rimmed plates fit together.

The Amazon page observed for this design identifies APS-671 and selects “8inch - Plate/Thali Rack-Stand”. Its title, base description and measurement table correspond to the maker's eight-inch pack-of-one design. The APS-671 code was observed on Amazon, but was not independently printed in the maker page we read. That correspondence does not resolve plate clearance or prove durability.

The eight-inch product name is not evidence of a maximum supported plate diameter. Ask for the permitted plate dimensions and clear spacing before deciding whether a larger thali, shallow plate or deeper rim will fit. No steel grade or load limit was established from the material description.

Six-inch page: do not choose the convenient measurement

On the official six-inch page, the current table gives L × W × H as 42.5 × 16.5 × 15 cm. The description instead states 34D × 16W × 15H, without printing a unit in that observed sentence. The heading combines a ten-slot description with a suffix saying Slot-8; the description says eleven slots holding up to ten plates or lids.

Do not select whichever field fits your cabinet or resolve the conflict from a search snippet. Before purchase, obtain the exact variant's dimensions and arrangement. Until that is resolved, this guide does not use the page as a fit recommendation.

IKEA RINNIG: smaller footprint, separate variant checks

The black RINNIG article 403.872.69 measures L28 × W9 × H8 cm. IKEA identifies steel and polyamide plastic and directs handwashing at up to 40°C. Its nine-plate drying claim does not establish fit for every rim profile, and packaging measurements are separate from the holder dimensions.

The yellow article 106.013.55 has the same stated footprint and materials. This page explicitly describes plates and lids stored on shelves or in cabinets and drawers. Specific care directions were not established in its observed care section, so this guide does not transfer the black article's temperature limit to yellow.

Compared with the larger Plantex footprint, RINNIG provides a different space requirement. That does not establish plate clearance, load capacity or better performance. The Amazon black-holder result includes a washcloth bundle; its title says blue cloth while other wording says white. Pack of two does not establish two holders. That offer remains unresolved.

Measure the loaded arrangement

Use this worksheet for each candidate. Record unknown fields as unknown rather than substituting dimensions from a similar rack.

An empty rack height of 16 cm does not establish that a loaded arrangement needs only 16 cm of shelf clearance. Plates can project above the rack and need additional space for retrieval. Do not add rack height to plate diameter as a universal formula either: the support position and plate orientation matter.

Care and ownership checks

Both Plantex descriptions direct cleaning with wet and dry cloths, avoiding harmful chemicals and accumulation of water or dust. Those directions do not establish dishwasher permission, a particular detergent or a cleaning interval. No corrosion test or scratch test was performed for this guide.

Check care instructions for the exact supplied item, including any base or grips. Inspect the arrangement against your cabinet's own care requirements. A finish name and an anti-scratch description do not guarantee that loaded plates or rack movement will leave every shelf surface unchanged.

Questions before choosing

Does a ten-plate claim mean ten of my thalis fit? No. The actual rims, slot spacing, loaded arrangement and permitted load need to correspond to your set.

Can I store wet plates in a closed cabinet? This research has not established a cabinet drainage or drying arrangement. The maker's drying-and-storage wording does not answer that question for your cabinet.

When should I choose another layout? Consider another arrangement when exact dimensions conflict, the loaded plates block closure or retrieval, or the maker cannot establish the placement and load information your setup needs.
