A dosa tawa needs to fit both your cooking routine and your stove. Start with the dosa diameter you actually make, then check the usable cooking surface. A nominal pan diameter alone does not establish how much room remains for spreading batter or turning the dosa.

Write down the space you need
Measure a typical finished dosa from your current routine. Record the flat cooking span of your current tawa separately from its outside diameter. Note whether spreading near the edge or lifting the dosa is awkward. These observations make a replacement search more useful than choosing the largest advertised size.
For each candidate, ask for usable surface, base diameter and handle-inclusive dimensions. These are different measurements. Check your appliance's cookware requirements and the manufacturer's instructions for the exact pan. Leave a blank in the worksheet when a measurement is unavailable; substituting a carton dimension can give the wrong answer.
Also record where the tawa will cool, be washed and be stored. Confirm bare weight if lifting is a concern. A shipping weight includes packaging and cannot establish how the pan feels in use.
Hawkins: compare model codes before choosing a diameter
The official Hawkins dosa-tava table lists NDT28 and INDT28 at 28 cm, NDT30 and INDT30 at 30 cm, and NDT33 at 33 cm. Each listed model has a stated thickness of 4.88 mm.
The Hawkins IM114 manual, on printed page 17, gives intended recipe dosa diameters of 25 cm for a 28 cm tava, 27 cm for a 30 cm tava and 30 cm for a 33 cm tava. These describe the manufacturer’s recipe sizes. They do not establish measured usable cooking area or a maximum dosa size, and they do not apply to the Milton lead. Exact purchased model and supplied manual revision still need matching.
The paired NDT and INDT entries are separate model codes. Do not treat the same nominal diameter as proof of interchangeable stove compatibility. The reviewed page includes general gas and radiant-electric wording and separate induction-label images in INDT rows. Exact variant instructions and appliance requirements still need to be matched before a recommendation.
These models are useful product options when their measured cooking area and footprint fit your worksheet. Choose another size or pan when the verified dimensions do not fit your dosa, appliance or storage needs. The table does not establish usable surface, bare weight or comparative cooking performance. INDT30: a verified purchase identity, with fit still unresolved
The checked Amazon listing identifies INDT30, 30 cm, Black, with ASIN B09PG9GBVT. Its package list names the tawa, spatula, scrubber, cookbook and guarantee card. This resolves purchase identity for INDT30; it does not resolve the other four Hawkins codes or prove that this size is the best choice.
Keep INDT30 on the shortlist when you want to consider a 30 cm nominal nonstick induction model and can follow its applicable care instructions. Before selecting it, obtain the actual base dimensions for your induction appliance and confirm the complete handle footprint and bare mass. Choose another verified option if those measurements fail your kitchen worksheet or if your cleaning routine conflicts with the supplied instructions. The presence of an induction label does not establish compatibility with every appliance's minimum base requirement.
Check the whole cooking route
The manufacturer shop labels INDT30 product dimensions as 466 × 300 × 111.7 mm, in length, width and height order. It separately lists carton dimensions of 468 × 320 × 93 mm and carton mass of 1.85 kg. These are different measures. The product measurement is a useful question for the supplier, but its handle and height reference are not illustrated; it cannot establish usable cooking span or induction base diameter. Carton mass does not establish bare-pan handling.
Draw three spaces on a sheet: the stove position, a cooling position and the storage position. Record the available clearance at each, including where the handle points. A pan that fits the stove but has nowhere suitable to cool or store may be an awkward replacement. Use product measurements with a defined scope for this check; the nominal diameter cannot supply all three answers.
For your usual meal, also record how many dosas you make and the finished size you need. Compare that requirement with the verified cooking span before choosing a larger tawa. Diameter alone cannot establish how quickly a batch will finish: spreading, cooking and release performance remain untested here. NDT33: a separate non-induction purchase identity
The checked single-tawa listing identifies NDT33, nominally 33 cm, with ASIN B0091X7RVM and the selected pattern labelled “Non Induction”. Keep it separate from INDT30 and from multi-product bundles shown in search results.
The manufacturer shop labels NDT33 product dimensions as 495 × 330 × 113 mm, in length, width and height order. Its carton dimensions and carton mass are separate packaging figures. Handle and height measurement references are not illustrated, so confirm their scope before using the numbers for a tight drawer or shelf.
Consider this larger nominal size only if your usual dosa and kitchen worksheet justify it. The selected listing is unsuitable as an induction recommendation. Usable cooking span, base geometry, bare weight and handle footprint still need their own evidence; a larger nominal diameter does not prove faster cooking or easier release. Exact supplied instructions and current offer eligibility remain pending.
Milton Granito: resolve the description conflict first
The Milton Granito Induction product page was read with Burgundy and 30 cm selected. Its specifications identify aluminium and one tawa. They label dimensions as 48 × 30 × 8.5 cm, in length, width and height order, but the measurement scope has not been confirmed. Those numbers should not be substituted for usable cooking span or base diameter.
The page gives conflicting coating counts. We have left the count out of the selection rather than choosing one version. Exact manufacturer SKU, supplied instructions, bare weight and stove correspondence remain unresolved. General heat-source wording and a product name are insufficient for an appliance-specific recommendation.
Consider this lead only after those details are resolved and the exact pan fits your worksheet. Choose another verified option if the supplier cannot establish the variant or its instructions. No durability, utensil-permission, health or cooking-performance promise follows from this screening.
Hawkins manual: a care constraint to check
The official IM114 manual has now been visually reviewed through its use, induction and cleaning sections. It covers the nonstick dosa-tava sizes and includes separate instructions for induction-compatible variants. The reviewed instructions require hand washing, cooling before immersion and care that distinguishes the cooking surface from the underside plate. High heat and metal or sharp scraping are prohibited.
Treat this as a shortlist constraint if your routine requires a dishwasher or metal scraping. Exact model-code and supplied-revision correspondence still need confirmation. The manual also limits preheating by size and heat source; a maximum is not a target cooking time. Follow the complete applicable instructions rather than a generic tawa routine. No care direction from this Hawkins manual is transferred to Milton.
